Biography

Edward Noott was born in 1965 and took a Foundation Course at the Cheltenham College of Art. From his early school days he was always drawn to paint the most colourful subjects available. Whether working on a landscape, or flowers in a garden, he has an uncanny ability to transform sunlight to canvas and to paint colours that the less discerning eye might miss. He later studied at Trent Polytechnic College of Art, where he gained a B.A. – Fine Art Degree Course, and he then attended the State University of New York, Oneonta, N.Y.

His first solo show was held at John Noott Galleries , Broadway in 1993, which is a huge success and the subsequent shows in the following years have been virtual sell outs. In the Spring of 1995, three of his paintings were exhibited at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, followed by a one man show in Bristol.

Edward Noott has exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Oils, the Royal Birmingham Society of Painters, Royal West of England Academy and the Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne. One-man exhibitions have been held at Broadway, in the Cotswolds annually since 1993, together with exhibitions in Bristol in 1995 and 1997, at the Weatherburne Gallery, Naples, U.S.A. in February 2000, and the John M.Stringer Gallery, New Jersey, 2002, 2005 and 2007 and at the Bourne Gallery 2006.

Awards include Royal Birmingham Society of Artists Open Exhibition 2003 – Best painting and Royal West of England Academy Purchase Prize (purchased by the University of Wales for their permanent collection).
